You can send a message to anyone by using the messages function on every user's profile or via the messages centre in the top right corner.

To send a message, click the chat icon next to the person's profile or search for them in the messages. You can either send 1-to-1 messages or create group conversations with other users.

Click "Connect" to send a message to the person you want to connect with:

You can also search for users in the chat when creating a new chat. When sending messages to people outside of your company connections, it will first generate a message request.

1-to-1 messages

To protect our users, when you send or receive a message to/from a person outside of your network, it will first appear as a message request in their/your inbox.

Network = users you are connected to via a company

If someone in your network sends you a message, it'll appear in your inbox under the “Messages” tab.

If someone outside your network sends you a message, it'll appear in your inbox under the “Requests” tab.

How to send a chat:

  1. Click the chat icon or connect button

  2. Write your message

  3. Attach files if needed (drag and drop or click the attachment icon)

  4. Hit send!

Users will be notified about new messages.

When sending messages to users outside of your company connections, it will first generate a message request, and you have a 300-word limit in your first message.

Group messages

You can create a group message with other users. The users you invite to group conversations that are from outside of your network will need to accept the message request before joining.

Users who have not yet accepted a message request to your group conversation will be visible as "pending" in the settings.

If they decline the request, they will be removed from the group conversation.

How to create a group message:

  1. Navigate to the messages icon in the top right corner.

  2. Click the pen icon to create a new message.

  3. Search for the names of users you want to include in your chat.

  4. Write your message and hit send!

  5. Participants will get a notification about new messages in CrowdWorks.

Message requests

When sending a message to a user outside of your network, you can only send 1 message (300-character limit). Before your message request is accepted, it is not possible to send more messages.

  • Users are notified via email about new message requests

  • When your message request is accepted, your future messages will go directly to their inbox

  • You can only send full-length messages to people in your network or those who have already accepted your messages.

  • If you send an attachment in your message request, the recipient needs to accept your message request before they are able to open the attachment.

Tip: We recommend keeping the message short and to the point, explaining why you would like to contact the recipient.

The message request is limited to 300 characters as a shorter message increases your chances of a response.

To accept or decline a message request:

  1. Click the Chat bubbles in the top right corner.

  2. Click Requests.

  3. Click the message.

  4. Select Accept or Decline.

When you accept a message request from someone, their future messages will go directly to your messages tab in your inbox. If you decline the request the message will be deleted.
