With Topics activated in your community, your members choose a topic before posting an update to your feed. This helps to organise updates and structure the information sharing in your community.
Note: when Topics is activated, every update needs to have a topic
You can easily activate Topics for your community in settings:
Navigate to settings > topics
Click "Activate topics"
The default topic, "General," is automatically assigned to you; you can rename it if needed. You need to have at least 1 topic live at all times.
Add as many topics as needed. You can edit the names and add more afterwards.
All old updates in the community will be assigned under the default topic "General". You can add as many topics as you wish to your community and from now on your members and community admins will need to choose one of them when sharing an update.
How to rename a topic
You can rename a topic if needed. All the updates under that topic will still remain under it with the new topic name.
Navigate to settings > topics
Edit the name of the topic you wish to rename
Click save next to the name
How to delete a topic
You can delete a topic later on if needed or rename it to something else that better matches your situation. When you delete a topic, you will need to reassign all the updates under it to another topic.
Navigate to settings > topics
Click the trash can icon next to the topic you wish to delete
Choose the topic that should host the updates under the topic you wish to delete
Click Continue
How to deactivate topics from your community
You can remove topics altogether from your community. If you choose to deactivate topics, posts will no longer be categorized. However, the existing category information will be preserved and will reappear if you decide to reactivate topics.
Navigate to settings > topics
Click "Disable topics"
