We are working on making it more flexible for users to choose which communities and companies they are a member of, but this feature is not yet available at the moment. Community and company admins are able to remove you from the community or company, so you can always also reach out to them as well.
You can also unsubscribe from community or company emails if you want to keep your membership but avoid email notifications about the activity.
How to manage/unsubscribe from emails:
Navigate to your profile > communications
Click the community or company you want to manage emails for
Unselect the options desired
